This hipster crowd pleaser is about a basically nice guy named Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera of course) and his love story. Scott a guy in his 20's is dating 17 year old Knives Chau (Ellen Wong) and in a epically awesome band when his life is changed with just a glimpse of Romona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). He falls for her at a big moment in his life before the big Battle of the Bands. They fall for each other in a average love story kindof way and Scott leaves Knives for Ramona.
Now the story isnt a sappy love story movie...not in the least bit! In fact Scott must fight all SEVEN of Ramona's evil ex's to win her love. Scott helped with his band mates and gay roommate Wallace (Kieran Culkin) fight for Ramonas love in a video game Street Fighter meets Tekken Style.
The movie complete with hundreds of video game references and random funny inserts is funny all the way through. its like watching a Video game that was made into a movie but the game elements are still there! Complete with power ups and "Pee meter Full" bars! I think that the movie is one of the most original and hilarious ideas of 2010 and really enjoyed the humor in Michael Cera's character. (complete with complex about his shaggy hair!)
To put it in a inside joke for this movie... I am in absolute "lesbians" with this movie and will be seeing it again before it leaves theatres! Great directing to Edgar Wright and great job to all the actors involved. They all played there roles as perfect as I could only imagine with this off the norm script!
I give it the movie 5 out of 5 Sonic the Hedgehog coins!!! I just wish I had a cheat code for extra levels of this movie!!!
Going to see this, sounds kick ass!
