This vengence thriller is about a brother who is released from what looks like the "prison from hell" and is on a no holds barred mission for a personal justice. The film starring Dwayne Johnson as "Driver" (yea...thats it...just Driver) a newly released convict who has only one thing on his mind....REVENGE. Not to give a spoiler but his brother is murdered in a bad way and Driver is out to get them. There was no delay on getting to the homicidal rampage! As a matter of fact he didnt even wait for a ride from prison! He runs to town! What the hell!?! So after the 1st killing he has a few Detectives on his trail. The role of "Cop" (yea...thats it...just Cop) is played by Billy Bob Thorton pretty much playing himself with a badge and gun and Detective Cicero played by Carla Gugino (Spy Kids, Entourage) are trying to track down the killer before he completes his hitlist. While Driver is to trying to complete his quest a hired gun is given the job to stop him. A guy named Killer (yea....thats it again...just Killer) played by Oliver Jackson-Cohenis a rich boy assassin that is given the job with his amazingly hot girlfriend played by Maggie Grace.
Anyway Driver goes on a no empathy, no talking killing spree and some of the kills in this movie I would barely be bold enough to do in a video game let alone real life! The only downside to this movie is that it is marketed as a kind of High Speed chase film...HIS NAME IS EVEN DRIVER! There was only two short driving sequences in the movie and left many feeling empty for the driving portion. However some of the killing makes up for it. I like to consider it a Kill Bill kindof film without the amazing dialogue and samurai swords.
This movie was great for a matinee showing for just a quick entertainment value but not a career changer for any that are involved.
I give it a 2.5 out of 5 stars! Strictly off of The Rocks intimidation in the movie alone!
I'd see it just to watch the Rock, he's so hot.
